This place is an amazing green paradise hidden inside the Andes Cordillera.

Our expedition will drive us inside the Domeyko Cordillera and the famous archaeological site of Hierbas Buenas, where we will discover old petroglyphs from 4 different periods of atacamenian History.

Then, we will enter inside the Matancilla Valley, to get to the impressive and multicoloured Rainbow Valley.

It is hard to imagine that the nature can produce such an amazing place, with so many colors : blue, red, green, purple, white, gold, ... Quite all the colors of the raindow are gathered here in that canyon.

Back to San Pedro around 1:30 pm.

This tour will start around 7:00 am from your hotel.

Our first visit will be the Chaxa lagoon, where we will take our breakfast, surround by the flamingos of the Atacama salt flat.
Then we will get to the Lagoons Miscanti and Meñiques in 4.200 meters in height.
Our expedition will continue still more inside the Andes Cordillera, in order to reach the incredible rocky formation called The red stones. This is a fascinating place where the volcanic rocks took on a impressive red color due to the iron concentration. This coloring contrasts with the white and turquoise blue of the Talar lagoon (or Aguas Calientes), and the beige ochre colors of the surrounding volcanoes.

On the way back we will stop in the small village of Socaire, dedicaded to terraces agriculture. There, we will have our andean lunch. To end our expedition, we will visit the Toconao village and its traditional constructions in volcanic stones.

Back to San Pedro around 5:30 pm.

Our adventure inside the wild andean desert will start around 8:00 am.

After having reached the high altiplano in 2.000 meters higher than to San Pedro Atacama, we will stop in the Queipiaco view point to take our breakfast.

Then, we will continue our expedition trought Paso Jama border road with Bolivia and Argentina to reach Los Monjes de la Pacana, impressive megalithic rocky formation due to the volcanic activity and centuries of erosion. The most famous of those formation is the humanoid obelisk called The Guardian of Tara.

Further inside the Andes Cordillera, we will arrive in the Tara Cathedrals, rocky formation sculptured by the wind and the rain who now looks like natural gothic cathedrals. Those cathedrals will be our entrance doors to the great Tara salt flat, large area with pastel colors and thousands of flamingos...

Back to San Pedro Atacama around 4:00 pm.
